The Mexico Team is back!

The team crossed the border slightly after 12 noon, without incident.

Thanks to everyone who've been praying and supporting us!

PRAISE THE LORD!  Around 20 decisions were made by the children of VBS this week, 10 at each site!!  The Holy Spirit has been gracious.

The team was also blessed during the end of week burger bash.  Through the meal, the team and the churches were able to reach out to the communities.

Please continue to pray for the following continuing needs:

1. Safety as the team returns home.

2.  Follow-up work done by churches, reaching out to the first time guests of the burger bash and Vacation Bible Schools.

3. Mexican churches' outreach efforts to be fruitful and glorifying to God.

4. The overall spiritual health of churches and their ministries--building up congregations and ministries in their communities.

5. Debriefing of the team tomorrow morning- the Holy Spirit to be praised for his work in the team and the ministry sites.

6. Praise God for good health, only minor health problems.

The team will leave north Los Angeles late saturday morning, and plans on returning tomorrow afternoon.  Continue to call back Saturday for more travel updates.  Periodic updates will be made throughout the day.

Again, thank you so much for the support!  God bless.

Jon left a creepy sounding voicemail on the church's mexico outreach update line.  Check it out: (916) 422-4253 ext. 333 after 6 pm.

The team went to the different sites to continue Vacation Bible School.  The turnout was outstanding, with around 100 kids at the old colony site and 30 at the new Philadelphia site.

Later Wednesday evening, Pastor Mariano and his wife hosted the team at his house, treating them with a delicious fish taco dinner.  As always, the hosts provided their guests with more than enough food.  mmmm tacos.

The team arrived late back at the basecamp and missed the evening chapel.  The afterglow session was pleasant.

The team was rather tired, so most people hit their tents slightly earlier tonite.

Vacation Bible School is continuing tomorrow, as well as daily messages from the basecamp speaker.

Pray for spiritual growth and strength for the team, as well as an increased awareness of the movement of the Holy Spirit in peoples' lives.

Thank you for supporting the team.

Monday, March 21, 2005

The following entry is for Sunday, March 20th.

The team served their first camp duties doing KP for breakfast this morning.

Later, we had the opportunity to listen to the speaker at the base camp.

We also visited the churches, the Colony and the new site, Philadelphia.  Both sites have very different environments this year.  The Colony, the traditional site we visit, has upgraded its two-walled outhouse to a two-flushing-toilet facility.  There are also additional rooms where the team can store materials, making the overall atmosphere at the Colony more welcoming for Vacation Bible School, which begins tomorrow.  Philadelphia is also much different from the sites in the past.  The facility is cleaner and larger, with a courtyard to play volleyball.

Please Pray for:

1.  Safety and timeliness in getting to the ministry sites.

2.  Preparation and setting up for VBS

3.  Outreach to the community- that the children and adults alike will be touched by our team.

4.  Turnout- according to the local pastors, a large turnout of children is expected at each site.  Pray for the team's readiness in working with the large group.

"If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life." Luke 9:24 (NLT)
